Spotlight on Transition Preparedness and Lessons Learned in the LAC region

In this session of the second day morning, Alfredo MejĆa, LAC Platform Studies and Tools Coordinator, and Paul Bonilla, LAC team and STC Specialist of the Global Fund, presented to participants key information about transition preparedness and lessons learned based on an analysis of transition plans developed in 2017 and 2018 in the LAC region. Also, they did highlight the main risks and strategies identified by civil society and communities in the LAC region through transition preparedness engagement.

Lessons learned from the transition preparedness in Latin America

In a round table, members of the Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCM) of Belize, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Suriname and Panama shared experiences, obstacles, challenges and successes of the implementation of their transition preparedness, particularly in the national transition plans.
Based on their experiences, a plenary was held to reflect, in theĀ transition preparedness context, how can we respond to the challenges? what are the opportunities for civil society in this context? and how can we take advantage of these opportunities?

In the last session of the morning, Julio CĆ©sar Aguilera, CARLAC member, shared key information about the functions and responsibilities of the Advisory Committee for Regional Grants of the Global Fund in LAC (CARLACĀ by its initials in Spanish).

Exchange of lessons learned and experiences between the movements of TB and HIV in the context of strategizing and coordination for the upcoming United Nations High-Level Meeting on TBĀ
