Description: In almost every country in the world, sex work is in some way criminalised, compromising the health and wellbeing of sex workers around the globe. Whether sex work is criminalised in all contexts or specific aspects of sex work are criminalised, this has dire consequences. This policy paper seeks to break down exactly how criminalisation increases the incidence of and vulnerability to violence and HIV transmission for all those engaged in sex work.
